To connect to FLTAK using Windows, users will need to get WinTAK from https://tak.gov.  This site is the official U.S. government home of TAK, and all users must apply for and be approved for an account to access the downloads.  

Installation and Initial Setup

1. Download WinTAK from TAK.gov.  

2. Install on Windows using the installer.

3. Connection to the server is handled with a certificate package as well as a username and password. Credentials will be provided by an admin via Telegram or email.  If partner organizations need access, they should go through enrollment.

4. In a browser, on the laptop you wish to enroll to the FLTAK server, log into https://takportal.fltak2.cdrp.net/

5. Select "Onboarding / Setup My Device" in the left menu.  

6. Click PC

7. Under Download and Import, click Download Data Package.

8. Open WinTAK.

9. The first time you open WinTAK, it may want to walk through a ‘wizard’ – you can safely cancel this process.

10. Once the app is loaded, click the menu button in the upper left - it’s the first icon in the visible toolbar (three horizontal lines, just to the left of 'Home'). This will open the full menu.

11. Click "Import Manager", then click "Import Files".  This will open a Windows Explorer window.

12. You should navigate to the Download directory on the computer and locate the certificate package you downloaded in Step 7.

13. Select the certificate file (it will start with your default callsign and end in 'DataPackage') and click "Open".  The import process will begin and it should prompt you for your username and password.

14. Once connected, click the menu button again in the upper left.

15. Scroll down and click "Settings".  This will open the settings menu in a panel on the right.

16. Click ‘My Preferences’.

17. Set your information by clicking through "My Callsign", "My Team" and "My Role".  Use the information on the Callsigns page. Replace [USER] with your last name.  As you change each item, click "OK" to save.

18. Once complete, you can close the preferences panel on the right side of the screen.

19. To switch your map view, click "Maps & Favorites" in the top menu.  This will display a list of all available map sources on your computer.  You can use whichever map you prefer.
