To connect to FLTAK using Windows, users will need to get WinTAK from https://tak.gov. This site is the official U.S. government home of TAK, and all users must apply for and be approved for an account to access the downloads.
Download WinTAK from TAK.gov.
Install on Windows using the installer.
Connection to the server is handled with a certificate package, just like ATAK. These are the 'keys' to the server - do not distribute them outside of your organization. If partner organizations need access, they should go through enrollment.
Once you complete the Enrollment Form, it will be reviewed by an admin. You will receive an email with instructions and two links. One is the certificate for the FLTAK server, the second link is a base map package to provide a basic set of maps for use in ATAK. Download both of these files to the computer on which you installed WinTAK. If you are unable to download directly to the computer, you can share the downloaded files via thumb drive, share drive, email, etc. - but every computer that will connect to FLTAK must have the .zip files. Contact support if you need assistance.
Open WinTAK.
The first time you open WinTAK, it may want to walk through a ‘wizard’ – you can safely cancel this process.
Once the app is loaded, click the menu button in the upper left - it’s the first icon in the visible toolbar (three horizontal lines, just to the left of 'Home'). This will open the full menu.
Click "Import Manager", then click "Import Files". This will open a Windows Explorer window.
You should navigate to the Download directory on the computer and locate the certificate package you downloaded in Step 4. The certificate package filename will start with "FLTAK1_".
Select the FLTAK1_NAME file and click "Open". The import process will begin and should connect you immediately to the FLTAK server.
You can close the import results panel that was automatically opened on the right side of the screen.
Click the menu button again in the upper left.
Scroll down and click "Settings". This will open the settings menu in a panel on the right.
Click ‘My Preferences’.
Set your information by clicking through "My Callsign", "My Team" and "My Role". Use the information on the Callsigns page. Replace [USER] with your last name. As you change each item, click "OK" to save.
Once complete, you can close the preferences panel on the right side of the screen.
Click the menu button again in the upper left.
Click "Import Manager", then click "Import Files". This will open a Windows Explorer window.
Navigate to the Download directory on the computer, and locate the 2024_FL_TAK_Base_Maps.zip file you downloaded in Step 4.
Select the 2024_FL_TAK_Base_Maps.zip file and click "Open". The import process will begin and load a standard package of base maps.
To switch your map view, click "Maps & Favorites" in the top menu. This will display a list of all available map sources on your computer. You can use whichever map you prefer.
